Now that water is available, the local bank (Standard Chartered) who funded a large part of the electrification has come in and built a new chicken run with 480 chicks (broilers, being reared for their meat).

This is an example of how SEED can be involved with something (we introduced Pastor Sikiyani and his church to the bank, and suggested the idea of a chicken project to Pastor Sikiyani) and then it can become something lasting and bigger without the help of SEED. We believe that this is a very positive development.

In addition, the money has just come in for roofing the other unfinished chicken run and filling it with chickens. The roof went on yesterday and so the project should begin in the new year. With these projects combined the community should be off to a good start towards supporting themselves.
